Beston Fires Town To Victory

Mitchelstown 0-12 Knocknagree 0-11

Mitchelstown made the long journey to Knocknagree on Sunday last to take on the locals in the Cork

Credit Unions Div Two football league where six points from the boot of Shane Beston ensured the

spoils came home. The heavy traffic around Mallow did not deter a town side and Shane Beston

opened the scoring inside the first minute. Knocknagree dominated the next ten minutes firing three

unanswered points. P McGee kicked a point from play but was quickly cancelled out by the

opponent’s white flag to leave the score 0-2 to 0-4 after 15 minutes. Mitchelstown dominated the

next quarter and points from Beston 0-3 S Walsh, J Mullins and J Sheehan left the halftime score 0-8

to 0-4.Knocknagree started the second half with two quick points but points from Beston and McGee

restored town’s four point advantage. The next 15m saw Knocknagree completely dominate and four

unanswered points saw the sides level with three minutes left on the clock.S Walsh restored the lead

but this was quickly cancelled by an opponent’s white flag., with time running out up popped Shane
