Lack Of Firepower Proves Costly
Clyda Rovers 1-12 Mitchelstown 1-06
Mitchelstown’s inability to find scores especially in the second half when they failed to raise a flag saw them go under to Clyda Rovers in the Ballylough Milling U21B Football final on the above scoreline. Mitchelstown opened brightly with a Paddy Hanrahan point, but Clyda Rovers took over when a fortunate goal from a free followed on with points in the 7th,8th and 10th minute saw Clyda race in to a 5-point lead. Points from D Sheehan and ST Keneally reduced the deficit at the water break. Mitchelstown then hit a purple patch and points from L Murphy, A O Brien (0-2) and a Mark Keane goal saw them lead 106 t0 1-04 at the short whistle.
The second half saw scores from both sides hard to come by and it took the 40th minute for the victors to record their opening score which was quickly followed by two similar to leave the the Clyda men leading by a point at the second water break. Both teams tried hard but with five minutes on the clock the one-point difference remained. On the 55th minute Clyda added their fourth white flag and four more unanswered points in as many minutes saw them run out worthy winners on a score of 1-12 to 1-06.Team T Nolan, C O Brien, S Coleman, C Keane, S Howard, R Donegan , C Keane Hyland, S Kenneally (0-1) M Keane (1-0), P Finn, A O Brien (0-2) ,D Harte , L Murphy (0-1) ,D Sheehan (0-1) ,P Hanrahan (0-1) Subs used A O Shea for C O Brien, C McNamara for P Hanrahan, A O Grady for D Harte, J O Shea for D Sheehan

A.G.M
Due to Covid restrictions the A.G.M was switched to an online meeting on Wed Dec 29th. With close on 50 participants, it ran smoothly. The outgoing secretary gave a detailed account of all the events in what he described as a second covid year something which he would not have forecasted 12 months earlier. The heartbreak of losing two county and one North Cork final and the joy of our second team winning the divisional championship, the major fundraisers which kept the club afloat and thanking all the willing volunteers for their help. The treasurer outlined the finances for the year and it could be seen from the accounts that getting to two county finals took its toll on the finances. The outgoing chairperson then addressed the meeting and spoke along the lines of the secretary’s report. The juvenile report was read by outgoing juvenile chairperson Mary Hannon. The election of officers then took place and were as follows President James Skinner,Chairperson John Walsh, Vice Chair TBC Secretary G Colman, Treasurer Paudie O Gorman Registrar G Colman Insurance Officer Kevin Wren, Co Board delegate G Colman, North Cork Board Delegate TBC, Children’sOfficer Karl Sweeney. The election of the executive committee was deferred to the opening club meeting. Motions that we should have a lifetime membership was agreed in principle with the amount deferred until the first executive meeting. A second motion to have a specific membership for juvenile coaches was deferred seeking clarification from the County Board. The incoming chairperson thanked all who worked for the club down through the years and looked forward to getting everyone to put their shoulder to the wheel for 2022.
