A devastating scoring spree in the second quarter propelled Mitchelstown to a comfortable win against Adrigole in this Cork Intermediate 'A' FC game in Carrigadrohid.

Mitchelstown, with Cork star Cathail O’Mahony in imperious form, produced a brilliant attacking display.
O’Mahony opened the scoring in the opening minute. This was quickly negated by a Kevin Goggin free. Mitchelstown eased into a two-point lead after 11 minutes, following scores from Sean Walsh and Shane Cahill. Aaron Jer O’Sullivan reduced the arrears for Adrigole, but this proved their last score of the half.

Mitchelstown 2-14 Glanworth 1-9
FAVOURITES Mitchelstown got their 2020 intermediate football championship campaign off to the best possible start Sunday afternoon with a dominant display over neighbours and fierce rivals Glanworth at Mallow.
The men in red and black took the game to Glanworth in a manner that their fellow Avondhu side struggled to cope with setting down a marker for all the other sides in this division.
The early exchanges were fast and furious with both sides making their mark on the scoreboard with ease.
Glanworth led with a brace of scores from Shae O’Riordan and Stephen Condon while Mitchelstown kept pace with a point from Mikey Walsh.
Still only three minutes on the clock and Mitchelstown bagged the first major with a composed finish from Cathail O’Mahony which was followed by another brace to push them into a three-point advantage.
Glanworth stuck to their task but it was Mitchelstown that had the bit between their teeth and another O’Mahony point was followed by a second goal – this time it was Shane Cahill that did the damage.
The victors cruised to the water break and on to the half time interval with some sublime scores and a work-rate that few sides at this or any other grade could muster.
Glanworth did manage one late score in the half to cut the gap to 10 points but even with 30 left it was clear that this one was going to be difficult to save.
Glanworth were never likely to let this one slide so easy and as the sides traded heavy hits Glanworth got a lifeline with a goal from first-half substitute Diarmuid Colfer.
Another sub, Mikie Sheehan bagged a trio of points late on but the result really wasn’t in doubt from a distance out.
