On behalf of Cumann Luthchleas Gael, Baile Mhisteala, (Mitchelstown G.A.A.) I am delighted to invite you and your family to the launch by the President of the GAA, Mr. Christy Cooney “The Mitchelstown Blackthorns Story” by Bob Honohan on the 6th November 2009.
Ar Scéal Féin is a beautifully produced book which blends local history, memoir and a record of the games won and lost since the foundation of our club in 1887. Lavishly illustrated, the book straddles a century of GAA life in the parish, bringing the past to life in a stunning array of historical and contemporary images and documents.
Bob Honohan in compiling the information and writing The Mitchelstown Blackthorns Story has not only done justice to the achievements of the people at play but it is also a history of voluntary endeavour and community achievements.
It is a book that will surely find a resting place in every home in Mitchelstown and the surrounding area and it contains much to fascinate and intrigue a much wider audience.
We are proud to present The Booley House Show – featuring a feast of Traditional Irish Entertainment & Culture of Song, Dance, Storytelling and Music.
